A Breakthrough For Maryborough’s Princes Park
Maryborough’s Princes Park, the home of the RACV Energy Breakthrough challenge, has been upgraded and is better than ever thanks to a $367,000 investment from the Andrews Labor Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, Danielle Green visited the completed project, which was delivered in partnership with Central Goldfields Shire Council.
Princes Park features sporting ovals, tennis courts, walking tracks and multiple community spaces set around Lake Victoria. The park attracts locals all year-round and hosts up to 12,000 visitors for the annual RACV Energy Breakthrough event.
The completed project included:
- Extension of the Energy Breakthrough track
- Extension of the recycled water system that supplies the community spaces
- Improvements to the community spaces including landscaping, seating and shelters to ensure Princes Park remains a contemporary venue for both residents and visitors to enjoy.
The Labor Government is getting on with growing the visitor economy in regional Victoria and this project will help create a more resilient Princes Park, boosting its capacity to weather the elements.
The upgraded Princes Park will not only attract more tourists and events to the region, it will create an attractive, modern sporting and recreation facility for the entire local community to enjoy and share.
The Labor Government’s $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund is creating jobs, connecting communities and kick-starting economies in regional Victoria.
