Celebrating the talents of local kids

Local community groups and councils in Western Victoria will be supported to host free and fun activities for Victorian families as part of Children’s Week.

Labor Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, today invited eligible organisations to apply for funding to help cover the costs of hosting an activity or event during Children’s Week, which will run from 21-29 October.

The week-long celebration recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children by offering free activities for Victorian families.

Grants ranging from $500 to $2000 can be used for costs associated with running an activity such as guest speakers, entertainment, performing artists, craft materials, children’s prizes or administrative costs.

Ms Pulford said the activity must be offered free to Victorian families with children, aged 0-12, or to early childhood services and schools.

“This is a fantastic celebration that recognises the talents, skills and achievements of our children,” Ms Pulford said.

“We want to make Children’s Week 2017 one to remember, which is why the Andrews Government is helping local councils and organisations in Western Victoria host free activities,” she said.

Applications must be completed before 5pm on Friday, 21 July. For more information visit: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/events/Pages/childrensweek.aspx?Redirect=1
