Clunes to put on another show for booklovers

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting Australia’s only annual event celebrating book production from old, new, rare and limited editions to book binding, paper making and printing methods.

Clunes Booktown attracts around 18,000 visitors to central Victoria in the first weekend in May and sees more than 60 rare, out-of-print and second hand booksellers setting up shop for the weekend.

The Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, said Clunes Booktown Festival creates the largest collection of second-hand and collectable books gathered in one place in Australia.

“Family and child friendly activities will run alongside food, wine, live music and old style street theatre to create an old world atmosphere,” Ms Pulford said.

“Our Regional Events Fund is helping rural and regional communities all over Victoria stage and secure the events that drive visitation and showcase the best of everything the regions offer,” she said.

“The Clunes Booktown Festival will capture the imagination of Victorian booklovers across our state and it’s a great way to bring people together and attract more visitors to our great region,” Ms Pulford said.

The Clunes Booktown Festival will run from 6 to 7 May 2017. For more information visit
