Funds for new flooring at Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre

New, non-slip flooring will be installed in parts of the Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre thanks to an $8,930 grant from the Andrews Government.

Labor Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, today announced the Government had approved the funding through the first round of the new Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.

The $200 million fund – the largest of its kind in Victorian history – will rebuild rural and regional hospitals to ensure all Victorians can access the high quality care and facilities they need, no matter where they live.

“The Labor Government will spend $8,930 to remove carpet from the clinical areas and passageways and replace it with non-slip vinyl flooring,” Ms Pulford said.

“The Labor Government is very mindful that Victorians deserve the best health care facilities, no matter where they live, and this investment will help improve safety at the centre,” Ms Pulford said.

The Victorian Budget 2016/17 provided an extra $2.45 billion for health so hospitals can admit more patients, reduce waiting times, upgrade buildings and infrastructure, and keep Victorians healthy.

“We’re putting patients first and revamping our rural and regional health services so more patients in Western Victoria can be treated sooner, closer to home, Ms Pulford said.
