Golden Plains Farmers Market Set To Sprout
Bannockburn’s Golden Plains Farmers’ Market is set to be upgraded thanks to a $30,000 investment from the Andrews Labor Government that will improve the market infrastructure and shopping experience for visitors.
The project will also support the growth of the Golden Plains Farmers’ Market by developing a promotional campaign including quarterly and monthly advertising across radio and print to increase the number of people attending the market.
The project includes:
- Improving the market experience by upskilling stallholders with additional business and customer service training
- Providing stall merchandising and product display upgrades
- Creating a new mobile friendly website featuring updated content and design
- New market equipment including signage, wireless speakers, tables and seating
- New market infrastructure to allow for the safe expansion of the market site
The project will ensure the market remains a strong attraction and visitor numbers continue to grow.
Farmers’ markets are an important source of income for small agricultural businesses in regional Victoria as profits go straight to the producer and serve to strengthen the local economy. Farmers’ markets also help attract tourists and boost local jobs through flow-on sales in nearby towns.
The market is accredited by the Victorian Farmers’ Markets Association – an industry organisation that supports and promotes authentic farmers’ markets throughout Victoria.
Accredited farmers’ markets provide consumers with assurance that the produce they purchase has been directly grown by the seller, which means the profits are going straight to the local producer.
The Labor Government is supporting regional communities establish and grow farmers’ markets through the Farmers’ Markets Support Program, boosting jobs, tourism and giving primary producers a direct outlet to consumers.
