Helping the next generation of farm leaders
The Andrews Government is helping our next generation of farming leaders take the next big step in their career with the Young Farmer Scholarships.
With Victoria a world leader in clean and green produce, there’s never been a better time to embark on a career in agriculture.
Scholarships are available to help young farmers boost their skills and equip themselves for the farming challenges of the future.
25 young people across regional Victoria have already benefitted from this training opportunity and are now putting their skills to work in our $13 billion agriculture sector.
Up to $10,000 is available to farmers and farm workers aged 35 years or under to help them with development and career progression.
The funding consists of up to $5,000 for study, backed by a further $5,000 to invest on-farm or in professional development activities to help put new skills into practice.
Examples of eligible courses include a Diploma in Agriculture, human resources training, business management courses, a Diploma of Agribusiness Management and a range of on-farm technical training.
Our young farmers are the leaders of tomorrow and with the right support and encouragement, I am confident Victorian agriculture is in the right hands.
By supporting the development of young farmers, we are investing not just in the growth of the agriculture sector but in the future of regional Victoria.
Applications for the Young Farmers Scholarship Program will close on 30 August 2017.
