Mildura’s Shared Working Space Supports Economic Growth
Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford today officially opened the UpStart Enterprise and Innovation space in Mildura, which will help grow the local economy by supporting up and coming businesses in the region.
A first of its kind in Mildura, UpStart will provide a fully equipped open working space ideal for small to medium sized start-up businesses, innovators, social enterprises and retailers to use on an as-needs basis.
Created by Mildura locals, Deb Bogenhuber and James Price, UpStart will give individuals and groups access to shared working spaces on a daily, weekly or monthly basis at a low cost.
UpStart will deliver many benefits to locals that live in the Mildura region, and will also draw in customers that are on a business trip and simply need a working space.
Venue hire is offered out of business hours, which will attract workshops and meetings to the Mildura region. Workshops are already planned in the UpStart space throughout March.
Victoria has all of the ingredients to become a global centre for startups and the opportunity is there for regional Victoria as much as Melbourne. In November 2015, the Andrews Labor Government established LaunchVic, the new body that will accelerate startups, drive new ideas and create jobs in Victoria.
LaunchVic will provide the right environment for entrepreneurs to develop and grow early-stage innovative businesses, backed by the Labor Government’s $60 million startup fund.
