Gippsland’s Strategic Vision Highlighted In Regional Plan
The Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford has today welcomed the launch of the Gippsland Regional Plan and emphasised the strength of Victoria’s regions in prioritising what matters most to their communities.
Representatives from Gippsland’s state and local governments, business, industry and the community gathered at the Victorian Government’s Ellinbank Dairy Research Farm today to officially launch the five year plan.
The plan has been developed by the Gippsland Regional Plan Leadership Group, comprising:
- Gippsland Local Government Network
- Regional Development Australia
- Committee for Gippsland
- Regional Management Forum.
The plan sets out the region’s long-term strategic vision for the future and aims to address the emerging challenges facing the whole of Gippsland.
The plan is the result of significant consultation, not only with the partners of the regional plan Leadership Group, but also with the community and business.
The Minister congratulated the Gippsland Regional Plan Leadership Group for bringing together all layers of government and the private sector to agree on a way forward for Gippsland, supported with strategic actions to realise the goals over the next five years.
The launch of the Plan follows on from the Minister’s meeting with community leaders, business and local government at a Regional Partnerships Stakeholder Forum in Sale last week.
The Victorian Government’s commitment to establish nine new Regional Partnerships will direct local priorities straight into the heart of State Government decision-making.
The Gippsland Regional Plan will be a key strategic document that will support your regional priorities in this decision making process.
The four strategic themes of the Gippsland Regional Plan are economic prosperity, education and community wellbeing, natural environment stewardship, and connectivity.
