Labor Secures New Rail Hub For Wodonga
The Andrews Labor Government has secured a $39 million investment by Australia’s largest private rail operator, SCT Logistics, to support the expansion of its operations in Victoria.
The expansion will increase rail freight between Melbourne and Brisbane, and include investment in a new rail freight hub at the Logic Estate near Wodonga.
The Labor Government has worked with SCT Logistics and the City of Wodonga to secure the project and attract the new rail freight terminal to the Logic Estate.
Despite government investment attraction efforts over the last 15 years, a rail terminal investment has not been able to be secured – until now.
The project will create 210 new jobs, including 118 in Wodonga.
The investment in the new rail freight facility at Wodonga is anticipated to be at least $22 million. It will provide cost effective freight to and from Victoria’s North East, helping to increase the competitiveness of exports from regional Victoria.
It is anticipated that developing a rail freight terminal at Logic will transform freight operations in and around Wodonga. The project is also likely to generate more warehousing and distribution investment at Logic as Victoria’s freight task grows.
The Labor Government is committed to supporting regional infrastructure development to boost local jobs and strengthen local economies in North East Victoria.
