REGIONAL WESTERN VICTORIANS UNDER PRESSURE WITH HEALTH AND JOB CUTS BY NAPTHINE AND ABBOTT

The Abbott Government’s health cuts on Western Victorians will see enormous changes to our health system with the State and Federal Coalition Governments moving to rip $131,000 out of Beaufort & Skipton Health, $500,000 out of Maryborough Health Service and $313,000 out of East Wimmera Health Service over the next four years.

Across the Western Victorian region alone and on top of Napthine’s health cuts, a further 31.7 million dollars will be ripped out of the health system over four years. These funding cuts could have created over 50 hospital beds, employed 300 new nurses and reduced the surgery waiting list by 6,000 operations. Instead these cuts will mean longer waiting times for those living in the Grampian and Wimmera regions and put our already strained health system under further pressure.

The damage doesn’t stop with health cuts with education cuts also wreaking havoc on our TAFE system in Western Victoria.
